Barcelona Barcelona has managed to hit the top 10 on the list of the most reputable cities in the world, according to the City RepTrak 2015 report.
This report, compiled yearly by US consultancy Reputation Institute, puts the Catalan capital up three positions from the previous year in sixth, the highest ranking Barcelona has reached since the beginning of this ranking in 2011.
Barcelona today is one of the most highly prized cities in the world, in large part due to its attractive surroundings. This is one the aspects that the Reputation Institute looks at when compiling their report. To compile the list of cities with the best reputation, this organisation takes into account 13 attributes, grouped into three dimensions: effective government, advanced economy and appealing environment.

The Catalan capital is the only Spanish city among the top 10 in the world.
The key to Barcelona’s sixth place on the general ranking lies the final criteria, which takes into account things like whether the city is beautiful, offers attractive experiences, is home to well-known personalities, etc. The Catalan capital Is ranked third in terms of appealing environments, above cities like New York, Vienna and Sydney. The top cities in terms of appealing environment are Rome and Paris, respectively.
The general ranking is led by two Australian cities, Sydney and Melbourne, with 79.1 and 78.9 points each, respectively, making them the most reputable cities in the world. Barcelona, ranked sixth with 75.8 points, is the only Spanish city to make the top 10. Another city to make the list is Madrid, which is ranked 21st in the general classification.
